One Day Course – Developing Excellence in Learning and Teaching with NAHT Aspire

Following the success of our ‘Developing Excellence in Learning and Teaching with NAHT Aspire’ courses held this academic year, we are pleased to announce that we have further dates available in October 2018.  The course provides a clear method to improve teaching and learning that is welcomed by teachers. It is designed for headteachers, senior or subject leaders from primary, secondary and special schools. The course builds leadership capacity to create exemplary teaching and learning and provides delegates with the NAHT Aspire Quality Framework for Learning and Teaching to explore how it can be used to develop excellence. The approach replaces the difficulties of lesson observation, planning and work scrutiny with a more positive method that is welcomed by teachers and informs leaders better and can be used by phase/year and subject leaders as well as senior leaders with individual teachers, teams or whole school staff. Teachers report enthusiastically, taking accountability for their own improvement and seeking further impact from their teaching. Leaders say that it brings greater impact to their leadership and saves them time.  To find out more or to book a place on the course please go to http://nahtaspire.co.uk/qflt-course/.

NAHT Aspire Peer Review Taster Sessions

The NAHT is establishing Aspire Peer Review as the leading format for peer review for schools. Every school has great practice to share, and all schools can benefit from effective collaboration with colleagues in their local area and beyond. NAHT Aspire is based on this principle of partnership working; it supports schools to work more effectively, share strengths and solve challenges together. It grows leaders and leadership to make schools even more successful, whatever their starting point. Headteachers and senior leaders are invited to explore the peer review principles and process with colleagues at sessions in Essex and Suffolk, details below: Gosfield Community Primary School in Essex on Monday 2 July 2018 (3.30pm to 4.30pm) Beaumont Community Primary school in Suffolk on Thursday 5 July 2018 (3.30pm to 4.30pm) The sessions will enable colleagues to explore what they expect from peer review, explore the nature of challenge between schools for the benefit of all leaders and provide sample materials for use in school.   What’s the benefit of NAHT Aspire Peer Review to your school? "The collaborative approach to the process has been very beneficial, working with schools and borough colleagues. The probe and challenge from colleagues allow us to justify our decision-making based on evidence – it’s part of a robust evidence base." Headteacher What’s the benefit of NAHT Aspire Peer Review to you as a leader? "Knowing that I have the confidence and knowledge to justify and explain my role, and its impact as a leader." Best Value for Outstanding School Improvement

We all know that money is in short supply so how do you get best value from your school improvement plans? Simple, NAHT Aspire… With ever increasing financial and performance pressures the NAHT Aspire programme delivers outstanding value to schools and commissioning bodies. For example, the cost to a Local Authority of converting a school to an Academy is between £2,500 and £20,000* without considering any financial deficits the Authority may retain and money spent on school improvement services in the time taken to conversion. Alternatively, a full two year Aspire programme costs less, brings immediate challenge and support and develops capacity through a model that is sustained over time. NAHT Aspire is a proven School Improvement programme that has been delivering consistently high outcomes for partner schools since its beginning in 2013. Designed in response to a DfE tender to help schools with multiple RI judgements and as an alternative to acadamisation, the programme has developed to include good and outstanding schools looking to retain and improve their judgements. We are currently recruiting schools to join our latest round of the NAHT Aspire programme. Starting with NAHT Aspire Peer Reviews in the summer term the programme will be commencing in the new academic year. Working in Networks encourages collaboration between school leadership teams engendered by the Aspire Peer Review that initiates the programme. School leaders set the agenda and content for their school improvement by the using the findings of the Peer Review and expert support from our advisers. Since 2013 NAHT Aspire has worked with: Over 160 partner schools 106 have been inspected – 77% joined as RI or worse Following inspection 68% are good or better 24 schools joined as [...]
